India last won a ICC Trophy back in 2024 when they lifted the ICC T20 World Cup in Barbados
The countdown to the ICC Champions Trophy has begun. The India Cricket Team squad for the ICC mega event was announced the previous day. And Indian captain Rohit Sharma has pledged that he and his team will try their very best to bring the ICC silverware to Wankhede.
India ended their ICC trophy jinx of 11 years last summer when they won the ICC T20 World Cup Trophy at Barbados. Rohit Sharma came close to lifting another silverware but faltered at the last stage. India after going unbeaten lost out to Australia in the ODI World Cup Finals of 2023.
Rohit Sharma promises another Wankhede Trophy show
“We will try our best, it’s a great moment to represent our country in ICC event, we know 140 crore people will be behind us – we will try our best to bring the Champions Trophy back to Wankhede,” Rohit Sharma said.
And now the time has come for Rohit Sharma to quite possibly lift his final ICC trophy. India will travel to Dubai next month to play in the ICC Champions Trophy. And this would be a perfect opportunity for the team to clinch two back-to-back ICC trophies in two years.
Thus, India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has pledged to win the trophy and bring it to Wankhede. The Men in Blue did the same last year after winning the T20 World Cup. And then in front of a packed Wankhede ground, they paraded around showing the trophy to the country. Rohit also claimed that it is a huge moment to represent the country in the ICC event. He also acknowledged that the love and blessings of 140 crore people will be on their backs.
