With Rs 1.10 crore in the bag, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest crorepati in IPL history. But who is this prodigy who suddenly became the blue-eyed boy of the league?
When 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryanvanshi went under the IPL mega auction hammer, no one expected him to fetch a price of Rs 1.10 crore. Being the youngest player ever included in the IPL 2025 auction shortlist, this batting prodigy from Bihar stunned everyone. Rajasthan Royals ultimately secured his services for Rs 1.10 crore after a heated bidding war that began with a base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Delhi Capitals opened the bidding, followed by Rajasthan Royals jumping in at INR 35 lakh. The push and pull between DC and RR continued until RR emerged victorious at INR 1.10 crore. Surprisingly, at an age where most kids don’t even have a bank account, Vaibhav managed to bag a hefty IPL contract, which is nothing short of remarkable. But now the big question is, who is Vaibhav Suryanvanshi, teenager who captured everyone’s attention?
Coming from Samastipur, Vaibhav’s journey began at the age of four when, noticing his interest, his father built a small playing area in their backyard. At the age of nine, he joined a cricket academy in Samastipur. The young prodigy made his mark at the age of 12 by debuting in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar, scoring 400 runs in five matches.
However, he truly came into the limelight during a youth Test match against Australia in Chennai, representing India U-19. Vaibhav smashed an impressive 62-ball 104, capturing everyone’s attention. This performance paved the way for his inclusion in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He is now all set to play for the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals.
