Stree
introduced
Shraddha Kapoor
in a peculiar look. The
horror-comedy
co-starring
Rajkummar Rao
,
Pankaj Tripathi
and Abhishek Banerjee had the actress playing the role of a ghost. So, as the story continues with
Stree 2
, which is set to release on August 15, Shraddha was to follow the same look for which she was required to sport a few costumes that she wore in Stree.
However, replicas of many of her original outfits had to be created because most her old outfits got lost!
Elaborating the incident, costume designer of the film Sheetal Sharma tells us, “To maintain continuity we had to use the same costumes. However, the outfits were in a godown and the team wasn’t able to trace it. So, we had to redo all the outfits before the film went on floor. It was a challenge to recreate costumes that were made 5 years ago. We started from the scratch, did reprinting and redyeing of clothes making them look exactly the way they were in Stree.”
Talking about the sequel, Sheetal, who’s worked on films like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Animal shared, “We have kept the whole world same. Time hasn’t changed in Chanderi (the town where the film is set). Shraddha’s character has more powers. So, ya we just tried to match the outfits and I think we have done it well. Only if someone sits with a magnifying glass might come to know about the changes. Because certain fabrics which we used in the earlier shoot weren’t available anywhere. So, we had to redo the fabrics, dye it and get that patch done. We also redid the printing. It was quite crazy to put back the similar look.”
