Ram Gopal Varma
is often known to drop truth bombs about himself and his experiences in the industry quite often. The ‘
Rangeela
‘ director had written a long letter post the sudden demise of the late
Sridevi
which left everyone shocked. Sridevi was found dead in a bath tub at a hotel in Dubai in 2018. It was the case of accidental drowning following a loss of consciousness.
The police had also found traces of alcohol in her blood sample.
Meanwhile, post her death, Ram Gopal Varma had penned a long open letter on Facebook, talking about the
actress
in which he dropped some shocking details. The film-maker said, “She was the most beautiful woman for so many people. But did she think she was beautiful ? Yes she did ,but every actresses nightmare is age and she was no exception. For years she was doing ocassional
cosmetic surgeries
the effects of which can be clearly seen.”
He had further said, “She always came across as a little uptight but that’s because she built a psychological wall around her as she was scared of anybody to really see what’s going on within her. She was panicky about anybody knowing what her
insecurities
were. Not because of her fault, but because she was thrust with fame from a very young age it never gave her a chance to be independant and be what she could really be and what she really wanted to be.”
He then left everyone wondering as he added, “For many, Sridevi’s life was perfect. Beautiful face, great talent, seemingly stable family with two beautiful daughters. From outside everything looked so enviable and desirable… But was Sridevi a very happy person and did she lead a very happy life?”
Later, during an interview with The New Indian Express, RGV had said that Sridevi would follow a very strict diet. So much so, that she would just starve herself. “She often used to starve; she wanted to look good. She wanted to make sure she’s in good shape, so that on-screen, she looks good. From the time she was married to me, she had blackouts on a couple of occasions, and the doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue. Unfortunately, she didn’t take this seriously, and she also thought maybe it can’t be this serious until the incident happened.”
RGV had further added in his open letter that she was unhappy for most of her life. “She had to put on the make up and be somebody else not just infront of the camera, but also to put a psychological make up to hide her real self behind the camera.” Not to mention, according to the director, Sridevi was also scared and worried if her daughters would be accepted by the industry, like most star parents do!
While fans truly miss the actress, RGV’s letter was like an inspiration for many fans and new actresses to not give in to their insecurities and starve themselves to death or spoil their health just to look a certain way!
