NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unleashed a scathing attack
Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance
leaders over alleged derogatory comments about women amid controversial remarks made by Arvind Sawant towards Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC.
Addressing a campaign rally in Maharashtra’s Dhule, the Prime Minister accused the opposition leaders of disrespecting women, asserting that mothers and sisters across Maharashtra would not forgive such behaviour by alliance members.
“Every woman in Maharashtra must be cautious of these Maha Vikas Aghadi members. They cannot bear to see women empowerment. The entire Maharashtra is witnessing how Congress and these alliance people have resorted to insulting women. What kind of obscene language? What kind of comments are being made to demean women?” PM Modi said.
“No mother or sister in Maharashtra can ever forgive these actions of the alliance members,” he added.
PM Modi’s remarks assumes importance in the backdrop of UBT faction MP Arvind Sawant’s remarks where he referred to Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbadevi Shaina NC as ‘imported maal’.
“Imported maal doesn’t work here, only original maal works. We have original maal,” Sawant said without naming Shaina NC.
