The Kolkata Knight Riders’ home game against Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 is expected to be shifted to Guwahati after local police stated they would be unable to provide security for the IPL match due to ‘Ram Navami’ celebrations on the same day. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Snehasish Ganguly confirmed this to PTI on Thursday. Earlier, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had announced that more than 20,000 processions would take place across West Bengal to commemorate the festival.
“We have informed the BCCI about rescheduling the match, but there is no possibility of hosting it in the city at a later date. Now, I’m hearing that it will be shifted to Guwahati,” Ganguly told PTI.
