It was no ring that left Australian actor Charlie Vickers, who plays the antagonist Sauron in the Rings of Power series, during a stay in a hotel in Auckland.
In a recent revelation, Vickers shared a revelation when asked of his favorite cricketer outside of the Australian cricket team.
“I once walked by Virat Kohli in a hotel in Auckland, and that was really surreal. So, I’ll say him because of that encounter,” Vickers told News18.
When asked if he got to speak with Kohli, Vickers conceded, “No, I was too nervous.”
Vickers’ sentiment towards Kohli is matched by larger perception around the Indian star batter in Australia.
During India’s 2019 tour of Australia, the-then Prime Minister Scott Morrison had also gushed over the former India captain while hosting the two teams at his official residence – the Kirribilli House in Sydney. “I’ve got a total cricket crush on this guy,” Morrison had said.
Speaking of Kohli’s outing during the same tour, the-then Australia coach Justin Langer had also heaped praises on Kohli. “He is an extraordinary leader. He’s probably the best player I’ve ever seen,” Langer had said on Prime Video’s The Test.
“His leadership, I’ve never seen an athlete with as much energy as he’s got. I wish I had half of Virat’s energy. The way he bats, the way he fields, the way he captains the side, he’s tough, he’s a really tough leader,” he added.
With India scheduled to tour Australia later this year for a five-Test match series, Kohli is expected to play a big role in the World Test Championship (WTC) series.
