West Indies end 34-year wait with historic Test win vs Pakistan as spin ploy backfires

What a game of cricket. West Indies has scripted a memorable Test win in Pakistan. The visitors staged a memorable comeback in Multan to draw the series 1-1. On Day 1 of the game, West Indies were left baffled at 54/8 runs in their first innings. But on Day 3 at Multan, it was the visitors who had the last laugh as they registered a memorable 120-run win. And with this win, the West Indies have won a Test match in Pakistan after 34 years. The last Test win at Pakistan for the Caribbean side came way back in 1990.

Pakistan’s spin ploy backfired massively in the Pakistan Cricket Team‘s face. It was Noman Ali who grabbed the headlines on Day 1 of the 2nd Test match. West Indies were bowled out for 163. Noman Ali bagged 6 wickets which included a hat trick.

West Indies script History

In reply, Pakistan too couldn’t fare well. The hosts managed to score 154 runs in their 1st innings, as the visitors took batting again on their 2nd innings with a slender 10-run lead. But it was in their second innings that, West Indies stepped up in their batting department.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite lead from the front notching up a sensational fifty. Tevin Imlach (35) and Kevin Sinclair (28) added runs towards the end of the innings as WI went on to register 244 runs. It was a tough job for Pakistan as they needed 253 runs to win the Test and seal the series.

But West Indies ran riot. Jomel Warrican had initially bagged 4 wickets in the first innings, and now he bettered his stats. He bagged a sensational fifer as Pakistan suffered a stunning collapse. In the end the hosts were bowled out for 133 runs and thus suffered a massive 120 run defeat.
