Kolkata: West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Tuesday met around 100 voters from Bengal at Raj Bhawan, who could not exercise their democratic rights by casting their votes, in the last Lok Sabha, recent by-polls and 2023 panchayat polls. Many of these voters were allegedly beaten up and victims of post-poll violence.

Adhikari urged Governor CV Ananda Bose to arrange a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu, so that the voters from Bengal could submit a memorandum to the President. Bose spoke to the voters today at Raj Bhawan, who were not allowed to vote in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, last bypolls and Panchayat polls.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has launched a portal for receiving complaints from people who failed vote in recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, recent by-polls and Panchayat polls in 2023. After receiving the complaints, today Adhikari visited Raj Bhawan today with 100 voters who could not vote in Lok Sabha polls, to meet Governor CV Ananda Bose and discuss their complaints.

“If our complaint is meaningful, please arrange to meet President Droupadi Murmu to meet her and submit our memorandum about the situation of West Bengal. We will also mail to ECI on the matter,” Adhikari urged Bose. The voters have come from Nadia’s Chakdah, Ranaghat and other parts of the state.

“We must stop these atrocities on people. You can see what is going on in Bengal. Legal voters have been prevented from casting votes. They have looted the vote,” Adhikari told media persons after meeting the Governor.

“Appeasement politics has reached such heights that the whole mechanism is in the hands of the goons,” he added.

“This is a symbolic presence. The large number of genuine voters were denied their democratic rights because they are Hindus. It is an alarming signal coming from West Bengal. Police, state admin are patronized by the ruling Trinamool Congress who did not allow the Hindus to cast their votes in 2024 Lok Sabha polls. In Diamond Harbour, Basanti, Gosaba, Baduria and Minakha-people were not allowed to cast their votes. Earlier they obstructed BJP, now they are stopping you’re the Hindus,” Adhikari said while addressing the issue in front of Bose at Raj Bhawan. BJP lost all the four seats in the July 10 assembly bypolls.

“I am coming here as LoP and you are custodian of Constitution. Bharat is called Hindusthan but Hindus are allowed to vote. The CAPF is standing outside and they have no power to check the EPIC cards. In Raiganj, 371 Presiding polling officers were chosen from the teaching community and they obliged the ruling party. Please save the Constitution. Our appeal is to restore democracy and save us,” Adhikari told the Governor in his address.

Some voters even showed the Governor how they were attacked by Trinamool miscreants and beaten brutally. The Governor spoke to the people who came to Raj Bhawan today.

“Police harassed us outside Raj Bhawan and I had to move court. Today also 25-30 people were stopped outside,” Adhiakri said.
