My Brother Nikhil (2005) has been set as the opening night title for the

PVR INOX Pride Film Festival

. This film is among the selected and carefully curated titles such as Moonlight (2016), All of Us Strangers (2023) which will be screened across cities. These

films

are stories of human connection, struggles, acceptance and self-discovery across languages.

Nayana Bijli

, Director of Licensing and Acquisitions, PVR INOX Limited spoke about selecting these films for the festival.
‘We are very excited to organise the Pride Film Festival and be a part of it’
Nayana pointed out that as Pride is such a significant aspect of the community globally, adding,”Hence it is important for PVR as a brand to stand with that and show that we are working towards and being part of the journey of inclusivity. We are very excited to organise the Pride Film Festival and be a part of it. We are doing our best to bring audiences to see the different types of stories that exist.”
The festival,

Nayana

shared, aimed for stories that celebrated all forms of love. The curation includes Hollywood films, Bollywood films, and films in other Indian languages. Partnering with Kashish, the lineup included a lot of their films, offering a holistic range to reach different audiences. The festival is not bringing only the niche films, but popular films like Badhaai Do.

‘We just have to have faith in the audience that no matter what the topic is, if a story is powerful, it will do well’
As the Director of Licensing and Acquisitions at PVR INOX Limited, it’s the powerful stories that she looks out for.
Nayana shared,”We attend a lot of film festivals as well. We keep diversity in mind, focusing on films that resonate with the Indian audience as well, and also making a global impact and having that diverse element to it. So, I come from that lens of distribution and content acquisition. I am trying to bring the same approach to the exhibition side by figuring out how to get some festivals that can showcase the diverse lineup and library of films that we have.”
She added,”We want to bring the most powerful stories to the audience. We always deliberate on what will work with the Indian audience. We just have to have faith in the audience that no matter what the topic is, if a story is powerful, it will do well.”
