Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has stepped down following a crucial meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, signalling a significant political upheaval in the northeastern state. His resignation comes nearly two years after the outbreak of ethnic violence in May 2023, which resulted in over 250 fatalities and displaced close to 60,000 people.
