Paris Olympics: Huge crowd gathers outside Delhi Airport to welcome Paris Olympics medalist Manu Bhaker on her return to India
India’s ace shooter Manu Bhaker is on her way to land in India. And a huge crowd as gather outside the Indira Gandhi Airport to welcome the Olympic Bronze medalist to the country. Manu Bhaker won India two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics in 10 m Air Pistol shooting event.
Manu Bhaker went down in the history books after her heroics at the Paris Olympics. She became the only Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals in a single edition of the Olympics. She won her first medal in the women’s individual event and her second jointly with Sarabjot Singh in the mixed event.
She almost won her third medal in the 25 m Pistol event, but missed it by a whisker after finishing 4th in the finals.
After her heroics, she became a huge name in the country. And upon her return to the country, a huge crowd has gathered outside the airport to welcome the ace shooter. She and her coach Jaspal Rana is slated to return to the country together. However, Bhaker will again depart for Paris as she will be India’s flag bearer during the Paris Olympics closing ceremony for India.
“I am honoured. This will be once in a lifetime opportunity and I will always cherish it as many years as possible in my sports career…It will be an honour of a lifetime. I will always cherish it,” Bhaker said after she was presented with the opportunity.
