BJP MLC A.H. Vishwanath has urged the Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru Lakshmikant Reddy, who is also the Chairman of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to lodge a formal police complaint against the reported loss of MUDA property in the alleged irregularities in the allocation sites under the controversial 50:50 scheme.

Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Sunday, Mr. Vishwanath suspected that there is a possibility of the ongoing investigations into the alleged scam being closed on the technical grounds that the “owner” of the properties had not lodged a formal police complaint.

“If a written complaint is not given to the police, we doubt that we may lose the case,” said Mr. Vishwanath, who is also a member of the MUDA.

The matter was raised during the MUDA Board meeting held on Saturday, said Mr. Vishwanath and added that chairman had later informed the reporters that a legal opinion will be sought on the issue.

Swabhimana samavesha

Reacting to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Swabhimana Samavesha scheduled to be held in Hassan on December 5, Mr. Vishwanath said the speeches at the convention will only focus on clearing the taint of the ‘MUDA scam’ on Mr. Siddaramaiah.

He dared Mr. Siddaramaiah to speak on his contribution to the Kuruba community at the convention.

He claimed that the convention is only to counter Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) that has asked him to vacate the Chief Minister’s post after 30 months.

Mr. Vishwanath has also urged Home Department to withdraw the FIR lodged against Vokkaliga seer Chandrashekar Swami for his remarks on Muslims’ right to vote.

He said the seer had subsequently withdrawn the statement and apologised for the same. Hence, the FIR lodged against the Swami should be withdrawn, he added.

Mr. Vishwanth took serious exception to the Union Ministers from Karnataka for not thinking “constructively”.

Except for Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna, no other Union Minister including Shobha Karandlaje and Pralhad Joshi had taken up any constructive work. “They were only issuing statements to criticize others,” he said.
