, was arrested at the scene. Eyewitnesses claimed he appeared intoxicated and was heard shouting “Another round, another round” after stepping out of the wrecked car.

  1. Fatal crash: A speeding car driven by 20-year-old law student Rakshit Chaurasiya rammed into two-wheelers in Vadodara’s Karelibaug area around 12:30 am on Friday, killing a woman on the spot and injuring four others.
  2. Victim identified: The deceased has been identified as Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter when she was hit.
  3. Drunk driving suspected: Eyewitnesses claimed Chaurasiya appeared intoxicated and was heard shouting “Another round, another round” after stepping out of the crashed car.
  4. Driver’s background: Chaurasiya, a native of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, is a law student residing in a PG accommodation in Vadodara.
  5. Car owner at large: The car belonged to Chaurasiya’s friend, Mit Chauhan, who was in the passenger seat during the accident. Authorities are trying to track him down.
  6. Eyewitness video: A video shows Chauhan stepping out of the wrecked car and blaming Chaurasiya for the crash, while the latter, appearing incoherent, keeps shouting.
  7. Mob anger: Bystanders thrashed Chaurasiya before handing him over to the police at the scene.
  8. CCTV evidence: Footage shows the car speeding, hitting two scooters, dragging the riders along, and finally coming to a halt.
  9. Police action: Chaurasiya has been arrested, and a medical test will determine if he was under the influence of alcohol.
  10. Legal proceedings: Police confirmed that Chaurasiya does have a driving license. He is likely to face charges under relevant sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act.
