Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said the main essence of the three newly implemented criminal laws- Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita- 2023, Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita- 2023, and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam- 2023- in the country lies in delivering justice, rather than focusing solely on crime and punishment. These three laws came into force on July 1, 2024.
CM Yogi inaugurated the National Conference on the Role of Forensic Science and Cyber Security in the Justice Process, organized on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution in Lucknow on Tuesday.
“With the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, three new laws—Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023—were implemented on July 1, 2024,” he said. He further added the essence of these laws lies not in criminal codes and penal provisions but in a code of justice and civil security. The process will begin with evidence collection, followed by bringing the accused to justice, he mentioned in his speech.
According to the CM Yogi, the establishment of the rule of law is the first requirement of good governance. Referring to his rule of the past seven and a half years, he said Uttar Pradesh has gained recognition for its governance at both the national and the international levels by following this principle.
A new auditorium at the Forensic Institute was inaugurated by CM Yogi. He also distributed certificates to students for various courses.
Highlighting the significance of November 26, 1949, as a landmark date in the country’s history, he said “On this day, India adopted the Constitution crafted by Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, a proud son of Bharat Mata, 75 years ago. In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared this date to be observed as the Constitution Day across the nation,” he said.
While highlighting the dual nature of the rapid advancements in the technology, he said while the development is accelerating due to use of technology, some people misuse it to cause financial harm through cyber frauds and other digital crimes. He gave emphasis on the essential use of technology positively to counter such incidents.
Warning against ignoring technology, he said “If those with positive intentions shy away from technology, it allows negative elements to dominate. We must not let that happen.”
