UNICEF India
on Saturday named
Kareena Kapoor Khan
as a
National Ambassador
. Kareena has been serving as the UNICEF India’s
celebrity advocate
for
education
and
child rights
agenda.
Talking about her work at an event at the UN House in Delhi, Kareena shared,”For 10 years, I have worked tirelessly and now I have joined UNICEF as national ambassador. It’s a huge honour and with huge honour comes huge responsibility.I feel being a mother is the most important role that I play.
There are two things that are always on my mind – first, children need a voice and that voice should be heard and second, we must nurture confidence in them.”
Recalling her interactions with students, teachers, and parents during her visits to schools through UNICEF, Kareena said,”It was absolutely brilliant to be there. I am so excited about this role and hoping to engage in never-ending conversations.”
Talking about what is that one specific area she would like to work on, Kareena said, “I would like to work in the field of
mental health
for children. We are living in an age where we are so focused on our
social media
image. I want to address that. It’s like there is a race against time and I want to address- what is the race? Everyone should be relaxed and calm. A small achievement can be made into a big achievement.Small wins should also make us happy.”
