Two deaths have been reported in the impact of Cyclone Fengal in Puducherry, State Home Minister A Namassivayam said on Sunday (December 1, 2024).

Talking to reporters while visiting flood affected areas in Rainbow Nagar and Krishna Nagar on Sunday morning, the Home Minister said the bodies of two persons have been recovered at Mettupalayam and Sankardass Swamigal Nagar. The Minister also inspected the rain affected places in Villianur and Mannadipet areas.

The bodies were recovered on Saturday night and Sunday morning from storm water drains. The process to establish the identity of dead persons was on, he said.

The Electricity Department was working to repair the damaged power distribution network and provide power connection to households at the earliest, he said.

“The government will assess the damage to property and crops before approaching Centre for relief. The assessment process will start only after rain subsides,” he said.
