Earlier on Sunday, insurgents killed a second woman in two days in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur, accusing her of being a police informant. The victim,
Yalam Sukra
, 40, hailed from Loded village in Madded, located less than 50km from Timapur, where another 45-year-old woman was murdered on Saturday.

A Maoist leaflet found close to Sukra’s body said, “Sukra was in touch with police since 2017 and informed them about movement of cadres. Between 2017 and 2024, she was warned four times not to work as a police informer, but she ran to police and tipped them and Telangana Greyhounds about our movement recently, which ended up killing seven Maoists. Hence, she has been killed at a jan adalat.”
Sukra is the third woman in Bastar to be killed for allegedly being a police informant. Maoists have killed at least 64 civilians this year in Bastar division.
