Triptii Dimri

is slowly rising to stardom post ‘

‘, but she known for her compelling performances in films like ‘

‘. With her unique charm and dedication, she has quickly garnered attention and a loyal fan base. However, her recent foray into dance numbers has sparked controversy, leading to significant public scrutiny.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Triptii addressed the backlash she received for her dance performance in the song ‘

Mere Mehboob

‘ from the upcoming film ‘

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video

‘.

The song features her alongside Rajkummar Rao and has been met with a wave of trolling on social media. Fans have targeted her dancing skills, and stated that she lacks the necessary talent for such performances.
Triptii expressed surprise at the intensity of the criticism, emphasising that mistakes are part of the learning process. “As an actor, I’m trying to do different things. First, I thought that you only need to know acting to be an actor, and you’re sorted,” she said.
The song ‘Mere Mehboob’, choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, features a sequence where Triptii performs a dance move that involves lying on the floor and lifting one leg in a circular motion. This particular choreography has drawn sharp criticism from netizens, with many describing it as “cringeworthy” and “humiliating”.

Despite this backlash, Triptii remains committed to her craft. She reflected on her journey as an actress, stating that acting was not initially her primary passion. “When things got real, I realized that when you’re offered shows, you should know how to walk properly; when you get offered a dance number, you should know how to dance well,” she remarked.
She further added “I have to try everything. But one can’t be good at everything. But what’s wrong in trying? You have to give it your best; you’re here now. I didn’t realise (while shooting). It was my first dance number, I haven’t really done one like this before. And I didn’t think that it would get the kind of response that it’s getting. But it’s fine; it happens to everybody. There are things that people like, there are things that people don’t like. But that doesn’t mean that you stop experimenting.”

The ‘

’ actress also discussed how she navigates criticism. When asked about being told that she can’t act due to her expressive abilities, she shared an insightful perspective: “Your body is always giving you signs… From that day on, I decided to follow my gut,” referring to her decision to take on roles despite external doubts.
‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is set to release October 11 and will clash with Alia Bhatt‘s ‘Jigra’.
