Mumbai: Twenty feet high corrugated metal sheets, concertina wires on top of it and increased security, that’s how Mughal ruler Aurangzeb’s tomb is now being guarded at Chhatrapati sambhaji Nagar after threats and demands from Hindutva outfits and those from within the Maharashtra government seeking to remove the grave from the state.
While there has been a heightened police presence around the tomb ever since the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal threatened to do a “Babri like Karseva” on the tomb, the grave that could be seen from the nearby mausoleum of Khawaja Sheikh Zainuddin Chisti, is now hidden with metal sheets so that there is no unauthorised access. Besides, every visitor is asked to provide their telephone numbers and Aadhaar details before visiting the grave.
