During a nostalgic moment at the 16th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi in 2018, Bollywood’s favorite couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, shared the endearing story of their first meeting.

The audience enjoyed a peek into their initial thoughts and humorous stories, highlighting the humble beginnings of one of Bollywood’s most cherished love stories.
Deepika began by recounting her reaction after watching Ranveer’s debut film, ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’. She recalled a conversation with her then-agent, who was confident that Ranveer was destined for stardom. However, Deepika had her reservations. “I’m not so sure,” she admitted, revealing that her initial thought was, “He’s not my type.” This candid confession drew a collective gasp from the audience, but Deepika quickly clarified her admiration for his acting prowess. She was particularly impressed by his flawless portrayal of a young man from Delhi, a role she initially thought could only be played by a genuine Delhiite. “It’s one of my favorite films of his,” she added, highlighting her respect for his talent.

Ranveer also shared his side of the story. He described a moment of fanboy excitement during a private dinner with his parents when he saw Deepika at the same restaurant. Whispering to his parents about her presence, he was eager to introduce himself. However, an allergic reaction to prawns he had just eaten complicated matters. By the time he managed to greet her, he was preoccupied with hiding his swollen face. Despite this, his main takeaway from that encounter was a sense of awe at her beauty, which drew an affectionate “aww” from the audience.

Fast forward to the present day, Deepika and Ranveer are expecting their firstborn. The couple took to their social media handle to share their excitement with their fans. According to their post, Deepika Padukone is due in September this year.
