Thrikkakara police book two for assaulting NCC officer

The Thrikkakara police have registered a case against two persons on charge of assaulting an officer of the 21 Kerala NCC Battalion at a camp held for NCC cadets at KMM College, Thrikkakara, where tension erupted after over 80 participating cadets were hit by suspected food poisoning on Monday night.

The accused were only named as ‘identifiable persons’ in the first information report (FIR). Reportedly, one of them was a district secretariat member of the Students’ Federation of India and the other a BJP councillor in Kalamassery municipality.

According to the FIR, the two accused after trespassing into the college hosting the camp, stopped, threatened, and then attacked Lieutenant Colonel Karneyil Singh, camp commandant at the combined annual training camp, around 11.30 p.m. The first accused allegedly stabbed the petitioner with a sharpened object on his cheek, neck, and back, the FIR said.

The accused were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 329 (3) (criminal trespass), 126 (2) (wrongful restraint), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 3 (5) ( criminal act is done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all, each of such persons is liable for that act).
