Rahul Gandhi‘s speech on the Jammu and Kashmir budget impressed the Opposition members and even some from the Treasury benches. When Gandhi was leaving, DMK leader Kanimozhi praised him, to which the Leader of Opposition said since it is coming from her it must have been good. Kanimozhi replied with a smile that she always appreciates a good speech.
LoP bats for press freedom
Rahul Gandhi not only raised the issue of government curbing press freedom through restrictions on the media’s movement and taking sound-bytes, he also followed it up with a visit to the “cage” — the glass chamber with some facilities for the media. He had raised this issue inside the Lok Sabha during his speech. Other Opposition leaders such as KC Venugopal and Derek O’Brien also paid a visit later.
Giving his best shot
At the education ministry’s Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam on Monday, skill development and entrepreneurship minister Jayant Chaudhary was quite impromptu. He started his address by quoting the legendary Italian artist and designer Enzo Mari, who had called for conferring Nobel prizes on two-yearold children for their breathtaking learning curve. He rounded off with the words of BR Ambedkar. Chaudhary acknowledged that states have some concerns on NEP implementation and said that they would be addressed in the best possible manner.
