After Trinamool MP Jawhar Sircar handed over his resignation letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman on Thursday, some party leaders said that the seat seems ‘jinxed’. In April 2020, Dinesh Trivedi was elected to this seat from Trinamool and in February 2021, he quit alleging corruption in the party. He later joined BJP. Sircar got elected to the seat for the remaining term. Now, Sircar has also quit alleging corruption. There is still one-and-half year tenure left for the seat.

Appreciating Elusive Political Awards, Finally
In the run-up to the LS polls, Ajit Pawar used to target his cousin and Baramati MP Supriya Sule for receiving the Best Parliamentarian award. He would claim that awards were useless. However, at a recent gathering in Pune, Pawar lamented that he hasn’t received any awards despite a political career of 36 years. He later sought suggestions from the crowd to improve his speech. While it seemed that Pawar was still critiquing Sule for receiving awards for “speeches only,” he acknowledged that awards encourage others to emulate those who have been honored.
