Ministries have planned an array of activities in the runup to the first ‘National Space Day’ on August 23. The government has officially declared August 23 as ‘National Space Day’ to honour the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission. The Prime Minister’s Office is keeping a close watch and holding regular review sessions. One of them was held just this week.

Civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu defended the name ‘Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak’. During discussion on the bill in Lok Sabha, some members said since Naidu was from Andhra Pradesh, he should not support the Hindi name. Naidu, however, said there were 11,643 words in this bill and only 3 were in Hindi. He said even if these were in Hindi, it did not matter because the meaning remained the same in Hindi, Sanskrit and Telugu, his native language.

In the runup to 2014 assembly polls, MNS had released a video on how it would develop Maharashtra if it came to power. While the video received good reviews, the party didn’t receive voters’ backing. So, recently when asked whether would release any blueprint, Raj said: “I was once (mistakenly) asked by a journalist about the blue film that we released.” He lamented that it would have been better had he released a blue film as people would have watched it. His grouse was that no one watched his blueprint which he took a lot of effort to bring out.
