Minister takes a back seat to patients & attendants
The UP government faced a lot of flak following the recent tragedy at Jhansi Medical College, in which 10 infants were charred to death in a neonatal ICU. When UP health minister Brajesh Pathak was due to visit the hospital, the district officials spread lime powder on the roads to greet him, which sparked widespread criticism. Pathak denounced the officials’ actions. He has now issued an order to all hospitals, stating that no welcome formalities such as sprinkling lime powder, red carpets, or offering bouquets should be observed during the minister’s visits to the hospitals. Instead, the administration should prioritise providing better services to patients and their attendants.

Better get the dog registered immediately
Civic officials have implemented mandatory pet dog registration throughout Shillong. The Shillong Municipal Board has announced that people must register their pets and acquire identification tags for ₹250 under Section 128 of the Municipal Act. “Dogs found without proper tags will be classified as strays, and owners will face legal consequences,” said the Shillong Municipal Board’s Chief Executive Officer in a public announcement. This measure is thought to help detect stray dogs.
