All geared up for Z-Morh tunnel‘s inauguration
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to inaugurate the strategic Z-Morh tunnel on Srinagar-Leh highway on Monday, the J&K administration was busy shopping last week to help the PM deal with minus 10-degree Celsius temperature. The administration plans to give a traditional Sozni shawl and woollen pheran to the PM at a function where he is likely to address a gathering of about 5,000. The tunnel will provide all-weather connectivity to tourists via Sonamarg that otherwise remains closed in winter due to heavy snowfall.

Uttar Pradesh govt proposes ‘no helmet, no fuel’ policy
UP’s transport department has proposed a strict ‘no helmet, no fuel’ policy in the state to reduce road accidents and fatalities involving two-wheelers. Transport commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh issued an official letter on January 8, directing the fuel station operators not to sell fuel to two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets, including the pillion. The letter has been sent to district magistrates of all 75 districts and also marked to divisional commissioners. It also highlights directions issued by CM Yogi Adityanath earlier this month during areview of road safety measures in the state.
