Prof. Felix Wilfred, theologian and founder-director of the Asian Centre for Cross-Cultural Studies (ACCS) passed away in Chennai on Wednesday at the age of 76.
Born in 1948, Prof. Wilfred, an advocate for liberation theology and interreligious dialogue, held several roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Chairman of the School of Philosophy and Religious Thought at the University of Madras and served as a member of the Vatican International Theological Commission under Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, a release said. He also served as the President of the International Theological Review Concilium, secretary of the Office of Theological Concerns of the FABC, and a visiting professor in various global institutions.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. James Church in Thiruvattaru, the release added.
