NEW DELHI:
Bisma Rehman
, a woman of Pakistani origin, recently shared on LinkedIn that she lost her job at Tesla amid the ongoing
layoffs
initiated by Elon Musk.
Rehman worked as an
Interoperability Lead
on the
Global Charging Team
and expressed feelings about her time at the company in an emotional post. She said, “It was a privilege and an honor to work with the most dedicated people who poured their heart and soul into building charging technology and network that not only served Tesla drivers but also welcomed all
EVs
, making traveling with an EV a seamless experience for everyone.”
Rehman revealed that her entire team of over 500 members was dissolved overnight.
She acknowledged the hard work and dedication of her colleagues, saying, “Unfortunately, the Tesla Charging Team of 500+ people, including me, was dissolved tonight. A team that empowered me to do some of the best work of my career so far and entrusted me to lead high impact programs and teams for Tesla charging and the industry.”
She expressed her hope that those who were laid off would find the same drive and passion in their future roles, emphasizing the high standards they set for themselves and the industry. “Very hard to let go of people who were so dedicated to the mission, solving the hardest problems and making the seemingly impossible happen; inspiring me to do better everyday. It’s a very high bar for excellence that we set for ourselves and the industry and I hope all of us are able to find that drive again in our future endeavours,” Rehman added.
Since sharing her post, Rehman has received over 200 reactions and numerous comments from users expressing their support and well wishes for her future endeavors. One user commented, “So sorry that this is happening, but I’m confident you’ll land on your feet! Hiring you was the best move for the NACS program, and any company would benefit greatly from having you on their team. I’m happy to put in a good word wherever I can.”
Earlier this month, Tesla announced that it would be cutting more than 10 per cent of its global workforce. In an internal email, Elon Musk stated that the rapid growth had led to duplication of roles within the company and that cost reduction was necessary for the “next phase of growth.”
