SRINAGAR: Two more terrorists were
killed
in
Frisal Chinnigam
of south Kashmir’s
Kulgam
district Sunday, raising the toll from the overnight gunfight with security forces to six.
No further casualties were reported among security personnel after Lance Naik Pradeep Nain of Army’s Para Commando unit and Sepoy Pravin Janjal of 1 Rashtriya Rifles were killed in separate operations in Modergam and Frisal Chinnigam Saturday.
DGP RR Swain
confirmed the ongoing operation in Frisal Chinnigam. “So far, bodies of six terrorists have been found. There were two operations at two separate places. The killing of six terrorists is a milestone achievement,” he said. The identities and affiliations of the slain terrorists remain unknown until the operation concludes.
According to official figures, a total of 27 terrorists were killed across J&K until Sunday this year. This includes 11 terrorists — five suspected Pakistanis in Kathua and Doda districts last month, and six in Kulgam — killed in extensive counter-offensives after four attacks in Jammu region on June 9, 11, and 12. These attacks resulted in the deaths of seven pilgrims, their local bus driver and conductor, and a CRPF constable.
Regarding the security situation in Jammu, DGP Swain said: “There was an attempt to revive terrorism, but they can’t do that. There is no atmosphere of revival of terrorism or its ecosystem in Jammu.”
However, Jammu continued to be on the edge as a soldier was wounded in a shooting near a military camp in Manjakot of Rajouri district Sunday morning. Sources said camp guards repulsed an attack, forcing the terrorists to flee into nearby forests.
