Champions Trophy Qualification Scenario
Since Pakistan is the host nation, they received direct qualification for the tournament. To fill the remaining seven spots, teams qualified based on their performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where they needed to finish within the top eight positions. India became the first team to qualify for the tournament, followed by Australia and New Zealand. Surprisingly, a quality team like Sri Lanka failed to enter the competition after finishing ninth. On the other hand, England secured the final admission despite having a poor outing; the Three Lions managed to qualify for the tournament. It is noteworthy that, after an excellent World Cup, Afghanistan will make its tournament debut.
Now speaking about teams like West Indies, Scotland, Zimbabwe, and Ireland will also miss the chance to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, as they failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023, resulting in their direct elimination.
