Taha Shah
has earned much acclaim for his portrayal of Nawab Tajdar Baloch in
Sanjay Leela Bhansali
‘s debut OTT series ‘
Heeramandi
‘. While he basks in the success, his romance with
Sharmin Segal
‘s character of Alamzeb was also hailed by viewers. In an exclusive chat with ETimes, Taha talks about working with Sharmin, getting the chemistry right and the criticism his co-star is facing on the internet.
Excerpts:
How was it working with Sharmin Segal?
Sharmin has always been very kind, and she’s always fun on set. She takes everything very lightly, and she always wants to give everybody food and treat all of us. She’s quite a bundle of joy herself. I never got to really work with Sanjeeda and Richa, unfortunately. But the people that I have worked with, there’s amazing women, who have always been a source of inspiration.
How did Sharmin and you work on your onscreen chemistry?
I think it took us a few days and Sharmin was the one to break the ice. I remember when we were shooting the Eid scene, and that was the day we broke the ice. It was a high emotion and an intense scene. She was very kind and wanted to do her best. Also, I believe that the chemistry comes out of the music that always used to play on set. Whenever (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) sir would direct, he would play certain music, which was just for Sharmin and me. And that’s how our chemistry was built. We became good friends and shared a lot of our personal lives. And I believe that the friendship is what brought out the chemistry.
Sharmin is being trolled for her performance in the series, qhat do you have to say about it?
It’s not right to troll anyone. I believe she has put her best foot forward or else Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir would never cast her. She has the potential, desire and passion. Audience can be very unpredictable. I only pray for her success.
