In Rajasthan, Congress MLAs staged an overnight protest inside the assembly after six party legislators, including state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra, were suspended for the remainder of the budget session.
The controversy erupted after Social Justice Minister Avinash Gehlot made a remark during the assembly’s question hour, saying “As always, Congress names schemes after ‘your grandmother’ Indira Gandhi.” Congress leaders immediately demanded an apology, leading to an uproar. Speaker Vasudev Devnani adjourned the house, but tensions escalated, resulting in the suspension of six Congress members.
The suspended MLAs refused to leave the assembly premises, holding an overnight sit-in protest, accusing the BJP-led state government of “suppressing opposition voices.” The political standoff has further fueled tensions in Rajasthan’s assembly as both sides refused to back down.
