Suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vishnu Murthy found himself in more trouble after holding a press conference without prior approval from senior authorities.
The event, conducted at the Press Club Hyderabad, has been deemed a breach of disciplinary norms, DCP Central Zone, Hyderabad Police, Akshansh Yadav said in a statement.
Mr. Vishnu Murthy has been attached to the DGP office and was under suspension since October 2024 on allegations of misconduct at his earlier posting as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Task Force in Nizamabad. This unauthorised act has prompted the Hyderabad Police to submit a report to the DGP, calling for further disciplinary proceedings.
During the press conference, Mr. Vishnu Murthy addressed recent comments made by actor Allu Arjun, who had criticised the police. The suspended ACP accused the actor of lacking an understanding of legal principles and warned him against defaming the police force.
DCP Akshansh Yadav reiterated that violations of conduct rules would not be tolerated and assured that appropriate action would be taken. The DGP’s office is now tasked with investigating the matter and determining the necessary course of action.
