LUCKNOW: Accusing

Congress

and Samajwadi Party of wanting to change the

Constitution

of

Dr B R Ambedkar

, Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath

said the two parties were trying to divide the country on the basis of religion and caste. The CM stated this during a roadshow in Mainpuri and during public meetings in Etah and Firozabad, on Thursday. “Through its manifesto, Congress is trying to change the Constitution to divide the country on the lines of religion.

When making the Constitution in 1950, Baba Saheb had said there can be no religion-based reservation. It cannot happen because this has become the reason for the country’s division. Congress has said they will cut a portion of the OBCS and SCs and give it to Muslims. Congress and

SP

are going against what Baba Saheb had said. This is a conspiracy to damage the country,” he said.
Calling Congress and SP the new incarnations of Aurangzeb, the CM further accused the Opposition of wanting to implement an inheritance tax on people, like Aurangzeb had imposed the jazia or tax on non-Muslims. He said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was guaranteeing respect for traditions and faith of the people, parties like BSP, SP and Congress were talking of imposing a virasat tax. “Your ancestors must have earned this property and they are here to loot it. They will take over half your property,” he said. In the same breath, he spoke about Congress wanting to allow Muslims the freedom to consume beef and carry out cow slaughter in the garb of implementing personal laws.
In Firozabad, he elaborated on it, saying Indira Gandhi had given the slogan of ‘Garibi Hatao’ and 54 years later, her grandson Rahul was parroting the same line without actually having done anything about it. His idea of removing poverty, he claimed, was to carry out a survey of everyone’s property and take away half of it to distribute among Congress members.
Yogi Adityanath said while development had its own importance, it was the first time a govt was in place which respected the faith of people. He said Congress, SP and BSP were actually barriers to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, therefore, should not get any votes.

“Behenji (Mayawati) ke haathi (elephant-BSP symbol) ka kya kahen….us ki apni hi chaal hai (Mayawati’s elephant (BSP symbol) charts its own course). SP and Congress have both denied even the existence of Lord Ram. It is under BJP that Ram Temple was made in Ayodhya and the Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Kashi. Varshon se hum kehte aa rahe hein, Mathura mein jitni bhoomi hai who Thakur Dev ki bhoomi hai, Bhagwan Krishna ki bhoomi hai (We have been saying for years that all land in Mathura belongs to Lord Krishna),” he said.

He also referred to President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday, saying it was the first time any President visited the Ramjanmabhoomi.
In his speech at various places, the CM also reached out to OBCs, claiming SP had insulted former CM and governor Kalyan Singh by not saying even two words in tribute when Singh died. He also asked what the SP govt did when politician Raju Pal was murdered, stating he was from a backward caste too. Yogi then named OBC leaders within BJP, starting with MP S P Singh Baghel and Ajit Pal, a minister in UP Govt.
“Congress, SP and BSP cannot deliver good governance, security, welfare for the poor, jobs for youth or development. Do they deserve your vote? Under UPA govt, borders were unsafe, terrorism and Maoism were at their peak, there were bomb blasts everywhere, while no development took place and these parties looted the share of poor in welfare programmes,” he said.
Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi, he said whenever a crisis struck the country, as in the form of Covid-19 pandemic, he ran away to Italy. “He doesn’t worry about India. But when elections come, these people are seen and heard making big announcements,” he said.
