Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal recently opened up about their
intimate wedding
and shared that this special event gave them the joy to share the emotions of their union. The couple had been dating for seven years before marrying. What the most loved celebrity couples shared was their thoughts about why they choose to keep their wedding a low-key, intimate celebration of love.
Only their best friends and closest relatives were there to celebrate the wedding.
The couple revealed during an interview with News 18 that they wanted to present themselves in only a positive, loving atmosphere full of true emotions. They wanted to surround themselves with people whom they actually cared for. Sonakshi also mentioned that they deliberately avoided all the buzz surrounding the special event and only focused their attention on each other and people who are important to them.
Sonakshi said, “Honestly, we hadn’t thought it would come to such an outpouring of love,” she shared, recounting how they had initially been uncertain about how their intimate wedding would be perceived. It feels like the easiest decision they could make and a genuine desire to preserve the private and intimate nature of their love celebration because they wanted that day to be all about them and their vows to each other.
“We decided that no matter what, we were going to celebrate our love and focus on what really matters,” Sonakshi says. “And this mindset actually helped us through the whole process-by keeping our focus grounded and present,” the actress further noted. Sonakshi added that the room energy was full of positivity and love. She remembers how it felt as if everyone present in the room could see the love between them.
The ‘Dabangg’ actress shared another notable moment of the wedding day, when she was signing the marriage papers. Sonakshi was literally jumping with excitement as she recounted it; she vividly remembered clapping her hands in that very childlike manner. It was both hilarious and warm for her family and friends. “It was just sheer happiness.,” she laughed, trying to put into words her reaction. “I do not think I have ever expressed this much, but I just could not restrain myself.”
Meanwhile Zaheer playfully recalled their excitement as he said, “If you don’t feel like this when you’re signing the papers, then don’t get married.”
For Zaheer, the wedding was the actual fulfillment of a desire he had longed to come true since his childhood. He even claimed that when he was a young boy, he would tell people that he wanted to grow up and get married. “It’s funny when I look back on it now, but marriage was something I always wanted,” Zaheer reflected.
In conclusion, he stated that after being with Sonakshi, all of his pieces have fallen into place. Zaheer also shared their urge to get married since the couples had been living together for quite a while. “We just wanted to call each other husband and wife,” he said with a smile.
