is leading on the Devendra Rajesh Kothe is leading on the Solapur City Central constituency by 25, 246 votes.
Kothe received 47,664 votes while AIMIM’s Farooq Makbool Shabdi got 22,418 votes after 9 out of 22 rounds of counting was completed.
Solapur City Central is one of the 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra, located in Solapur district.

It is a general category seat and falls under the Solapur Lok Sabha constituency. Solapur, an important city in the southwestern part of the state near the Karnataka border, is renowned for its cotton mills and power looms, and it once housed the largest spinning mill in Asia.
According to the 2011 Census, the city has a population of over 950,000, with Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes comprising 14.51% and 1.89% of the population, respectively.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Praniti Shinde of the Indian National Congress (INC) won the Solapur City Central seat by a margin of 12,719 votes, defeating Haji Farooq Maqbool Shabdi of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). Shinde had also won the seat in the 2014 elections.
Solapur City Central has an entirely urban electorate, with 100% of voters living in urban areas, as per the 2011 Census. The total number of voters in 2019 was 289,765, and there were 283 polling booths across the constituency. The voter turnout in the 2019 assembly elections was 58.06%, while it was 55.1% in the parliamentary elections.
For the 2024 assembly elections, the major candidates are Adam Narsayya Narayan from CPI(M), Chetan Narote from INC, Taufeeq Ismail Shaikh (Pailwan) from AIMIM, and Devendra Kothe from BJP.
This election holds significant importance amidst the shifting political landscape in Maharashtra, where party alliances continue to evolve. The election is scheduled for November 20, with the vote counting set for November 23, alongside bypolls in other states.
