Prithvi Shaw got out on a duck in Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Maharashtra.
It seems nothing is going right for Prithvi Shaw nowadays. The former India’s Under 19 captain went unsold at the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction as no team showed interest on his Rs 75 lakh base price. But now, he has gone from bad to worse. In the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) Mumbai’s match against state rivals Maharashtra, Shaw was given out on a three-ball duck.
It was intriguing to see how Shaw would respond after his dejection at the IPL Auction 2025. After all, established Indian batters usually get drafted into the IPL teams, albeit at base price. But there were no takers for Shaw, who was recently dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team due to being an ‘overweight‘. But now at SMAT, Shaw was given out caught behind down the leg side off Mukesh Choudhary’s bowling.
CSK’s recruit shouted for an appeal and umpire P Jayapal raised his finger. While the entire Maharashtra team was ecstatic, Shaw was left in disbelief. He was clearly dejected by the decision and even replays hinted that Shaw was unlucky to be given out for a duck. But as the fate would have it, Shaw had to walk back to the pavilion.
