Hitting out at the Opposition in Lok Sabha during the Budget debate in Lok Sabha, JDU MP Lalan Singh today said that Congress has been bowled out by the first googly of the Modi government and the party will fall again to zero. The union minister said that the Opposition should now accept that Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of India and has a full mandate.
“This is the first year of the government, just wait for the next four year, you will get wiped out from the political battlefield. The snake will bite you at 99 and you will fall down to zero once again,” Union Minister Lalan Singh said.
He also countered the charges that the Budget has been announced to save the alliance. “We’ve also seen your alliance in the past, how you behave like VULTURES when in Power,” he said.
The comment received enthusiastic applause from ruling party MPs. Singh also addressed the opposition’s claim that the Union Budget 2024-25 focused heavily on Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, key allies in Modi’s government 3.0.
The opposition alleged that these states received large allocations to secure the BJP’s position at the Centre. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced significant incentives for the two states in the Union Budget 2024. For Bihar, Sitharaman revealed infrastructure projects worth Rs 59,000 crore.
FM also announced several road projects for the state, including the Patna-Purnea Expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway, and roads connecting Bodhgaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Darbhanga. Additionally, a new 2-lane bridge over the Ganga River at Buxar will be constructed at a cost of Rs 26,000 crore.
Responding to these claims, Singh said: “Many parties have said that the budget was designed to appease two parties (TDP and JDU) and to secure the government. I’ve heard this many times. What is this talk of saving the government?”
He stressed that the alliance between the Telugu Desam Party and JDU with the BJP is a pre-poll alliance with a five-year mandate. He also took the opportunity to criticize the INDIA bloc, reflecting on Janata Dal (United)’s past experience with the opposition alliance.
Comparing the INDIA alliance to ‘vultures,’ the Union Minister said: “We were with you and saw how you acted like vultures when in power. We decided no more of this and left the INDIA alliance. We fought in a pre-poll alliance and have a five-year mandate. You’ve been clean bowled, don’t worry.”
