Gill, who is leading the Gujarat Titans for the first time, lost his 7th match of the season and will lead a miracle to qualify to the playoffs.
Gujarat Titans explosive batter David Miller wasn’t too happy about his team’s loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday. RCB picked up their 4th win of the tournament courtesy of some compact all-round performances. Miller, speaking after the match, dissected GT’s loss but praised Shubman Gill for his leadership skills.
RCB won the toss and put GT to bat first. GT could never really get going and bundled out for 147 runs. In reply, RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 90 runs in the powerplay and saw to it that the game was finished well before time.
Powerplay blues
After the match, Miller said they lost the game in the powerplay.
“We lost the game in the powerplay. We were a couple of wickets down while batting and conceded 90 runs while bowling. So it was tough. You’re not going to win too many games like that,” he said.
Positive signs
Speaking about the positives from the game, Miller said, “Taking some positives from the game. I thought our fight was unbelievable. They had an extraordinary powerplay but to fight back the way we did was great to see. They adapted pretty well. In the powerplay, their length was a lot better than ours.”

All praise for Gill
Miller also heaped praise on Shubman Gill’s leadership. The young Indian batter is leading the Gujarat Titans in his first season.
“He’s still young and he has got to learn, but I feel like his leadership has been really really good. I think it’s a tough one because the margins are so small, there are certain games that we potentially should have won but ended up losing. We would have been in a better position if we had won those,” Miller said.
