, who is currently making headlines for his recently released web show ‘Heeramandi’ opened up about the challenging phase of his life, recounting the heart-wrenching loss of his eldest son, Aayush, who tragically passed away at the age of 11 due to a rare illness.
In an interview with Connect FM Canada, Shekhar reminisced about holding Aayush, fervently praying for a miracle.
Reflecting on the ordeal, he remarked, “But miracles don’t happen.”
Recounting a poignant incident, he shared how a director once urged him to shoot despite Aayush’s severe illness. Shekhar recalled, “One day, amidst heavy rainfall and Aayush’s deteriorating health, the director, aware of my son’s critical condition, pleaded for my presence on set for two to three hours. I initially declined, stating, ‘I can’t.’
However, he persisted, saying, ‘Please, it will be a significant loss for me.’ Eventually, I relented. As I prepared to leave, Aayush grasped my hand and pleaded, ‘Papa, don’t go today, please.’ Despite his plea, I assured him I’d return quickly. That moment remains etched in my memory.”
After Aayush’s passing, Shekhar expressed grappling with a crisis of faith. He revealed that following the
tragedy
, he chose to close down the temple in his house.
The actor recounted, “All the idols were removed and discarded outside. The temple was shut down. I vowed never to turn to the God who inflicted such immense pain upon me, who caused so much hurt, and took away the life of a beautiful, innocent child.”
Shekhar also revealed how Aayush’s suffering became so unbearable that his wife resorted to praying for his release from it. He admitted that he still hasn’t overcome the loss and thinks of Aayush constantly every day.
