Heeramandi
‘ helmed by

, opened up about the
challenging phase
of his life when his
elder son
Aayush passed away at the age of 11.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shekhar revealed that he once worked with the industry’s leading female stars such as Rekha, Juhi Chawla, Dimple Kapadia, and Padmini Kolhapure, among others.
However, a turning point came when he learned that his son was
terminally ill
, marking a downward spiral in his life.
The senior actor mentioned that there was a difficult period where everything seemed to be going wrong. He described how the struggle intensified when he found out in 1989 that his son was terminally ill. He felt it marked the end of him, his career, and even his life and family. Each passing day, he sat by his son’s side, holding him, knowing that one day he would no longer be there.
The actor expressed that their family experienced a profound sense of grief even before their son’s passing, yet they found solace in the support of loved ones who aided them in coping with the tragedy. “We shed tears for years before his departure. Although he was given eight months, he only lasted four. Those were the most challenging times I’ve faced. Despite enduring much and witnessing many hardships, I remain grateful to God and those who supported me. However, life continues onward. For a parent, there is no greater tragedy than losing a child.”
