Shahid Kapoor, who will be next seen in his upcoming film Deva, recently opened up about his wife,
Mira Rajput
, and her inspiring journey of prioritizing
motherhood
before pursuing her career. Speaking to The Indian Express, Shahid expressed his admiration for Mira’s decision to focus on their children during the early years of their marriage before stepping into her professional aspirations.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2015 in an arranged marriage, welcomed their first child, Misha Kapoor, in 2016, followed by their son, Zain Kapoor, in 2018. Mira, who was just 21 years old at the time of their marriage, chose to dedicate her initial years as a wife and mother to building a strong foundation for their family.
“I think Mira has her own personality and I have mine. Definitely, she has begun to do a lot of things lately. She had made a very strong decision of first having her kids and then chasing her career. And I think that has worked in her favour,” he said.
In 2023, Mira ventured into entrepreneurship, launching the skincare brand Akind, which has garnered attention for its thoughtful approach to beauty and wellness. With their children now older, Mira has been able to channel her energy and passion into her career, creating a balance between her personal and professional life.
“Now our kids are much older and she has a lot of time for herself. She is building on things and she did do what she thought she wanted to do as a mother and she dedicated her time. Now, she can slowly feel freer and do things she wants to do. I feel prouder and rooting for her,” he said.
Shahid also emphasized the crucial role Mira played as his unwavering support system during challenging times in his life. “She has been there as a friend, partner, and support system to me and now it’s my turn so I am more than happy to be there for her in whatever way. I am very proud of her,” he expressed.
On the work front, Shahid’s previous outing was ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ and ETimes exclusive review for the film reads, “Although the concept is unique, the narrative often finds itself going around in circles while trying to build the story around it. The movie also touches upon the man vs machine debate, and using AI and robots responsibly. This aspect seems rushed and wraps up too quickly. The movie’s appeal lies in romance, and Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon have a smashing on-screen chemistry. Kriti’s poker-faced robotic act and on-cue laughter are hilarious, and she delivers every scene where she glitches in the human world with aplomb. Shahid breezes through the role of an irreverent guy hopelessly in love. Dharmendra as Shahid’s grandfather is adorable, and Dimple Kapadia is a treat to watch. Sachin-Jigar, Tanishk Bagchi, and Mitraz deliver a banger of a soundtrack, especially the title track (redux of Raghav’s Angel Eyes) and Laal Peeli Ankhiyan.”
