Stock market
today: The BSE Sensex witnessed a decline during midday trading, down 72.59 points or 0.085%, declining to 85,763.53, at 12.30pm. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty50 managed a slight increase of 12.65 points or 0.05%, reaching 26,228.70. Other indices showed positive momentum, with Nifty Next 50 and Nifty Midcap Select rising 0.55% and 0.61%, respectively. However, the Nifty Bank index fell 0.41% to 54,150.75.
Among the BSE Sensex gainers, Titan led the pack with a notable rise of 2.41%, rising to Rs 3,848.25.
Sun Pharma followed closely, up by 2.09% to ?1,938.05, while Bajaj Finserv and HCL Technologies saw gains of 1.85% and 1.72%, respectively. Asian Paints and NTPC also contributed positively, increasing by 1.61% and 1.23%.
Conversely, the top laggards included ICICI Bank, which fell by 0.65% to Rs 1,322.30, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, down 0.98% to Rs 1,883.70. HDFC Bank and Larsen & Toubro also experienced declines, down 0.99% and 1.63%, respectively. Bharti Airtel and Power Grid were among the worst performers, dropping 2.10% and 2.61%.
On Friday, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index led the gains in Asian markets, surging over 2.5% during the session. Other indices in the region remained relatively flat, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 edging up 0.10%, Taiwan’s index increasing by 0.4%, and South Korea’s KOSPI dipping by 0.04%.
In the US markets on Thursday, modest gains were recorded, with the S&P 500 rising 0.40% and the Nasdaq climbing 0.60%. Meanwhile, in Europe, France’s CAC index saw a strong rally, gaining more than 2.2%.
