Nargis Dutt died on May 3, 1981, from pancreatic cancer. Just five days later, her son Sanjay Dutt’s first movie as a lead actor, ‘Rocky’ was released. Sanjay had previously acted as a child in ‘Reshma Aur Shera’, directed by his father

in 1971. Both ‘Rocky’ and ‘Reshma Aur Shera’ are important in the Dutt family’s movie history.
