Actress

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

has just transformed her wedding gown into a stunning black cocktail dress that she debuted at an award show, making a statement about the importance of

sustainability in fashion

.
Kresha Bajaj, the designer who did the original and the redesign, wrote on

Instagram

: “The tulle from the entire gown was dyed in nude and black.

The nude tulle was fashioned into the corset using resham thread and new beads, while the boning remained from the previous design. The remaining, black-dyed tulle was utilised to craft the structural skirt…the unused parts are being repurposed into something new!”
We tell you how you can repurpose your wedding garment as well.

TIPS FOR REPURPOSING YOUR WEDDING ENSEMBLE
For

white weddings

, opt for a fitted or knee-length dress, allowing for transformation later
You can dye the white gown rose gold, giving it a new look
For

wedding saris

, pair the blouse with a simpler sari. A dupatta can be used with various outfits
Though wedding lehengas are typically heavy, you can convert them too, for instance, into a tube dress
Christian brides

can repurpose their veils into dresses for their child’s christening ceremony
