Mumbai Police
has filed a chargesheet in the firing incident outside
Salman Khan
‘s Bandra apartment, wherein it has been alleged that Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, directed a gunman to fire shots in the air to intimidate the Bollywood superstar.
The investigating agency has stated that this was part of a strategy to assert dominance of the
Bishnoi gang
in Mumbai, aimed at gaining financial and other advantages.
According to HT, the chargesheet was submitted to the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court and includes transcripts of conversations between Anmol Bishnoi and shooter Vickykumar Gupta. Allegedly, Anmol instructed Gupta to fire shots in a manner intended to intimidate Khan and suggested that Gupta smoke during the act to project fearlessness on CCTV footage. “You will create history by doing this job and your name will be there in all newspapers and other media,” mentioned a conversation in the 1,735-page chargesheet.
Salman Khan’s statement has also been included in the chargesheet, wherein he stated that while he was asleep at his residence in Galaxy Apartments in the early hours of April 14, he heard a sound similar to a firecracker. His police bodyguard later informed him at around 4:55 am that two individuals on a motorbike had fired at the first-floor balcony.
Anmol Bishnoi, who admitted to the shooting, lives in Canada. However, according to a Mumbai police official, the IP address of the Facebook post where he confessed was traced to Portugal. The police have issued a lookout circular (LOC) for him.
Referring to the social media post, Salman further said in his statement, “So, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping and (they were) planning to kill me and my family members.”
