LUCKNOW: Rohit Jhakhar, the national spokesperson of BJP ally Rashtriya Lok Dal, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Friday in protest against BJP
ticket
to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s son Karan from Kaiserganj.
Jhakhar, who is also the president of Rashtriya Jat Mahasangh, has been extending support to wrestlers who have accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.
“BJP’s decision to give a ticket to the son of a person who is facing such heinous charges is highly objectionable,” he told TOI.
Jhakhar said though he was against the
RLD
decision to join the NDA, it’s a matter which the RLD high command needs to explain.
Jhakar is the third key RLD leader to resign from the party after it joined the BJP in Feb this year.
Earlier, RLD vice-president Shahid Siddiqui had quit the party flagging the “attack on Indian democracy” in the wake of alleged BJP govt’s action against chief ministers and the opposition. RLD’s national campaign chief Prashant Kannaujia too had resigned saying he cannot work in alliance with BJP “which is against the Constitution”.
