Angkrish has played 18 matches in his career, six of which have come in the IPL 2024.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for just Rs 20 lakh at the IPL 2024 auction. The 18-year-old had an underwhelming List A and T20 record, but he still found a home at KKR. The franchise saw something in him that screamed superstar.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi: T20 superstar in the making
Abhishek Nayar, who’d been coaching the youngster, knew his true potential, and Angkrish showed it to the world on April 3. Having made his IPL debut a couple of days ago, he did not get a chance to show his talent. Batting for the first time, he scored an incredible half-century from just 24 balls.
Matches | Runs | HS | Avg | SR | 50s |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
6 | 118 | 54 | 23.6 | 161.64 | 1 |
He’s since scored just 64 runs in his next five innings, but his strike rate is sky-high (161.64). Before playing in the IPL 2024 season, he had played just 12 matches in domestic cricket and averaged under 25. A mediocre talent, some might have thought, but his IPL success seems to help the BCCI discover him.
According to reports, Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been selected for a National Cricket Academy (NCA) U-23 men’s high-performance camp. Although the camp will start on May 22 in Surat, he may join it once the IPL 2024 season ends if the Kolkata Knight Riders reach the playoffs.
