NEW DELHI: Bihar‘s Purnea Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav on Saturday asked the government to probe the reasons behind
death threats
he has been receiving allegedly from the
Lawrance Bishnoi gang
.
The Independent MP said it’s the responsibility of the nation’s security agencies like the Research and Analysis Wing (Raw) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to probe “who wants to get him killed”.
“What is the reason behind this, why does he want to kill me, who is the one who wants to get me killed? There will be someone who will find him. The responsibility of this is of IB and RAW,” Yadav said.
The Purnea MP also took a swipe at the central government over the security cover provided to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut.
“You (the government) don’t give security, give it to Kangana Ranaut and others…Fulfil the responsibility of investigating, are we not citizens of this country, don’t we stand up for the law and constitution of this country?” Pappu Yadav told news agency ANI.
Earlier in the day, Yadav received another life threat, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The threat was reportedly conveyed via a WhatsApp message, claiming to kill him within 24 hours. The sender of the message has asked Yadav to enjoy the last day of his life.
On Thursday, he claimed he has received “death threats” 17 times over the past month. He alleged that some JDU leaders might be behind the conspiracy.
The entire episode began after Pappu Yadav described the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as “petty thugs”.
Yadav had attacked Bishnoi in a series of social media posts on October 13, a day after NCP neta Baba Siddique’s murder and the Bishnoi gang claiming responsibility for the killing.
Later, Yadav claimed that the threat came due to his “closeness” to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, whom the Bishnoi gang had earlier targeted.
